Earlier this month, we reported four teenagers: Stephanie Sinnot, Quanesha Wallace, Keela Bloodworth, and Mareshia Rucker, who were struggling to get their first integrated prom on April 27, at their school, Wilcox County High School. They established a Facebook page for donations and support for their prom, yet the state of Georgia has not given them a second glance.
Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal has said through his spokesman that he won’t be endorsing them or the school’s efforts to have its first integrated prom, according to the Huffington Post. In fact, he expressed in an e-mail through his representative Brian Robinson that he will not be held hostage by some non-profit leftist group!
“This is a leftist front group for the state Democratic Party and we’re not going to lend a hand to their silly publicity stunt,” Robinson wrote, according to WMAZ-TV.”
But the state government is even trying to “cross the aisle” in celebration of the teenagers.
“Republican state representatives have joined four Democrats in endorsing the integrated prom, according to Better Georgia, the group that called for Deal to also support the idea.”
Some students have also tried to derail the prom by snatching down flyers, but the students are still going full steam ahead with their plans with or without the assistance of those less evolved than they are. They really don’t need that kind of help because it is no help at all. One thing that MUST stay separate is hate and love.
