In January, we brought you a viral video of a mall cop in Georgia that took his job too seriously and tasered a belligerent woman in front of her and her friend’s kids outside the mall. Well, now he’s in trouble with the law himself and the heroic image he once held with his internet fans, has been tarnished.
Darien Long, is facing battery charges for two separate incidents because of his overly aggressive use of his taser on his job as Atlanta, Georgia’s Metro Mall security. Police reports state that Long could not support his claims of warning Marcus Purnell not to come back to the mall before he assaulted him.
Police believe that he assaulted the man because of a break-in he thought Purnell was involved in at his home. Long is given a $2,000 bond by a Fulton County judge on Friday, but then another battery charge rolled in against him. He’s in custody at Fulton County jail, but Long already had a record as long as his arm.
His previous charges include “four arrests for assault, two weapons possession charges, and driving with a suspended license.”
Check out the report.
