Why the Controversy Over New Beetle Commercial? (Video)

White guy in the office who bought a new Beetle shares his happiness with co-workers in a Jamaican accent.

The Superbowl is upon us and we are seeking a Baltimore Ravens win, Right?!  Okay, maybe some of you don’t agree, but you may not agree with the commercials coming up for the Super Bowl either.

Sunday, Volkswagen hit YouTube with their new commercial that some believe will cause controversy because a white guy is walking around his office in a great mood and speaking with a Jamaican accent. According to the NBC’s Today show, Volkswagen reps said that they did their “homework” and consulted with various groups including Jamaicans, of course, and no one had a problem with it.

The white guy in the commercial has purchased the 2013 Beetle and was instantly transported into a happy place.  Now, happiness translates to the Caribbean for this man and he is spreading his cheer with his co-workers.

I found it interesting and funny.  Check it out for yourself!
