This morning is an exciting time for some NBA players that were invited to the White House yesterday for a special visit with the President. They were so excited yesterday, that surely they’ve woke up this morning pinching themselves.
The President invited the Miami Heat to the White House to congratulate them on their victorious season and he took the time to make special remarks to LeBron James and Dwyane Wade. President Obama pointed out James astounding record from Game Six of the Eastern conference, according to ABC, saying:
“We saw him pull off one of the greatest performances in basketball playoff history.”
During that game, James “scored 45 points, grabbed 15 rebounds and dished out five assists” and they prevailed 98-79. The President called Wade the “heart and soul of this team” and joked about his fashion sense saying:
“And at the post-game press conferences, he dressed well enough to land himself in GQ magazine,” he said to laughter. “Show them your kicks here, Dwyane.”
But LeBron was so overwhelmed by the moment, he asked the President if he could speak to which the President responded, “It’s your world, man.” James then said:
“On behalf of myself and my teammates, we just want to thank you … for the hospitality, for allowing us to be, I mean, in the White House. I mean, we’re in the White House,” James said with excitement. “We’re kids from Chicago and Dallas, Texas and Michigan and Ohio and South Dakota and Miami. And we’re in the White House right now. Hey, Mama, I made it!”
Great moment! Check it out.
