Last week, we reported a story about a man being run over by his own car after his dog jumped on the accelerator. But now another man has died underneath his own car under far less bizarre conditions.
Dr. Elias Konwufine, 39, was the Dean of the Business School at Keiser University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. According to a report from NBC Miami, he parked his car awkwardly in front of his home in the Sienna Green Condominiums in Lauderhill, Florida, instead of in the driveway and that was a violation of the homeowner’s association. A truck was sent to tow his vehicle.
According to an NBC report on the Daily Mail, Konwufine jumped on the tow truck driver’s vehicle to keep him from making off with his car. He was beating on the window and trying to get him to stop, but he would not, the tow truck driver who only wanted to be identified as Ken told the reporter. Konwufine lost his step and fell off of the tow truck and was run over by his own car that was being towed by its back tires with the front tires trailing the ground. Konwufine died a few hours later at the hospital.
The tow truck driver that only wanted to be identified as Ken, told the reporter:
“I felt a bump.”
Well, I bet you’re going to feel a bigger “bump” when this family is through with Superior Roadside Assistance. The towing company is contracted by the community’s homeowner’s association. A resident that was interviewed said that the tow truck company is constantly in their neighborhood towing their vehicles and they are tired of it:
“They are hungry for money and people have been chasing them all the time, ‘Why you towing my vehicle?'”
Dr. Konwufine was quite an accomplished younger man with two doctorate degrees before the age of 37. He leaves behind a wife and three children. One of his children is only 13 months old and another has special needs. His family is devastated. His niece said:
“I don’t know what we are going to do without him.”
Check out the devastating report below. Our condolensces to the Konwufine family. R.I.P. Dr. Elias Konwufine
