We have watched Jay-Z’s meteoric climb to the top of Hip Hop. But in the beginning of his epic rise, we saw his clique and business partners change.
Damon Dash was his right hand man when they were building the Roc-A-Fella empire, but they sold the business and apparently parted ways. Many have speculated and even instigated a beef between the two moguls, but according to Dash that’s neutral territory. A Global Grind interviewer said to Dash that she heard that the two of them were “actually cool. Like you call and check up on one another…” to which he responded:
“Someone told you that? Let’s keep that one a mystery… I have nothing but positive things to say about him. He’s doing well… All we did was make a company together and sold the company and went and did other businesses. Why can’t two black people do that? …It was a business arrangement…obviously…”
But when speaking on the friendship, he had this to say:
“Maybe what you might wanna ask is about the friendship, but that’s more personal…I need Dr. Phil for that one.”
Check out his interview. Dash admits that he had a lot of fun during the era of Roc-A-Fella, but that his twenties and he doesn’t miss those times at all.
