Two Chicago Bank Robbers Bust Out of Jail with Bed Sheets?

Joseph Banks, 37, on the lam from police after escaping high rise jail in downtown Chicago.

This story sounds like something right off of a sitcom.  The Rapunzel-type escape from jail is something we’ve only heard about in the movies.

The New York Daily News reports that the two, Kenneth Conley, 38, and Joseph Banks, 37, also known as the “Second Hand Bandit”, performed their own form of Shawshank Redemption.  They broke out of a high rise jail in downtown Chicago called Metropolitan Correctional Center, before 5am using a slew of bed sheets to shimmy down 15 stories.  Yep, that’s what we said…15 stories!

Kenneth Conley, 38, charged with stealing $4,000 from a suburban Chicago bank and is still on the lam after breaking out of a downtown Chicago jail.

Did people below think they were window washers or something?  The two are still on the lam after their successful getaway.  One guy was interviewed saying:

“I’ve been in jail before,” a bystander told NBC Chicago. “But I wouldn’t have done that. That’s scary. He’s the new Spider-Man.”

That’s right! There is no way most would be that desperate to get out of a high-rise jail.  Conley is charged with having stolen $4,000 from a bank, but Banks is charged with $600,00 in several armed bank robberies that has yet to be recovered.

Think they’ll be picked up by 5pm?  Me too.  Read more here on these two numskulls!
