The police departments across America are overshadowed by various crimes committed against the people they are supposed to protect. But when you have those cops that represent the force with excellence it is unfortunate that you don’t hear about it until they are gone.
Sargeant Stephanie Moses committed suicide after an argument with her girlfriend Tuesday evening in their Long Island home, according to the New York Daily News. Sgt. Moses was noticed on the national stage when she was pictured with President Obama at the 9/11 ceremony in May 2011 at Ground Zero.
“On behalf of the New York City Police Department, I extend my deepest condolences to the family and friends of Sgt. Stephanie Moses, who was, on so many occasions, the face of the NYPD on the national stage as well as routinely at police ceremonies,” Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said.
Moses was on the force for 17 years and she was known to have a wonderful personality. But just like the nurse in the prank call incident, Jacintha Saldanha, when someone decides to commit suicide it is rarely representative of who they were. It seems that whatever leads them to that much misery, had not always been present in their life, thus most people are baffled by their choice to do something so horrific.
