The Republicans will not stop with their doomsday predictions. Some threatened to issue pink slips to their employees if Obama won, but it appears that, at least one, has renounced his earlier statements.
As we reported October 9, Westgate Resorts CEO David Siegel, sent all of his employees an e-mail threatening potential layoffs if Obama was re-elected. The e-mail said:
“If any new taxes are levied on me, or my company, as our current President plans, I will have no choice but to reduce the size of this company.”
But Siegel said that his e-mail was “twisted by the media” and he never told anyone he was going to fire them, according to CNN. Rather than fire anyone, he decided to give everyone a five percent raise. He said that his company made record profits last year and he wanted to pass on some of the rewards to employees because they’re going to need them:
“I hope I can maintain our profits,” he said. “We’re not going to be hiring people or expanding. But my goal now instead of growing is getting out of debt and staying profitable.”
