We Remember: Leo O’Brien of Last Dragon Fame Has Passed On

The Last Dragon is a cult favorite from 1985 that introduced us to Taimak, the chizeled ‘Bruce’ Leroy follower who became Laura Charles’–played by Vanity of Vanity 6–hero and love.  The characters like Sho’ Nuff we’ll never forget.

One of the most beloved characters of the film is Richie, played by Leo O’Brien.  He was the feisty, spirited younger brother of Bruce Leroy, who was hopelessly in love with Laura Charles.  Since that time, he was in other films and TV shows, but his acting fire slowly burned out and he was in the process of reigniting his career when he died, Wednesday, October 10, 2012, at age 41, according to New York Daily News.

In September 2011, Taimak Guarriello heard that he had been shot three times.  He reached out to him and they were able to become friends again.  They then started working on an independent film in New York called “I’ve Seen Things”.  Guarriello told NY Daily News:

“He’s been through a lot of tough times,” Guarriello said. “It’s unfortunate.”

Guarriello found out from O’Brien’s son Drew, that he had passed away.

Rest in peace, Leo O’Brien.  You won’t be forgotten.
