People have been running to their local Whole Foods and other markets packed with organic foods and supposedly healthy products for many years. The food is significantly more expensive than other produce and meats, but was supposed to be well worth the money…until now.
A study’s results published in the Annals of Internal Medicine journal, blew the roof off of the most important information comparing the two foods, according to the Daily Mail. Many believed that organic foods were always the best for optimal health, but according to the findings the produce only showed slightly lower pesticides.
Dr. Dena Bravata and co-researcher Crystal Smith-Spangler and other colleagues from Stanford University Medical Centre, California, found no clear evidence of any significant added health benefits.
Co-researcher Crystal Smith- Spangler, who is also an instructor of medicine at Stanford’s School of Medicine, said:
“Some believe that organic food is always healthier and more nutritious. We were a little surprised that we didn’t find that.”
Somebody is going to want a refund after all the information is released about this study. Many have paid nearly a third more for their food because they thought they were doing the right thing by their children. It was also found in two studies of children “found lower levels of pesticide residues in the urine of those on organic diets, though for all those studied the levels were below allowable safety thresholds.”
