Joseph Ross checked into his Motel 6 room in Sharonville, Ohio, only to be greeted with an electronic display of "Hello Nigger!" on his TV screen, Friday, July 27, 2012.
Nothing is more relaxing than that first moment you lay on your bed in your hotel room after a long trip. The possibilities of relaxation are endless. You might choose to jump in the tub next and get fresh and clean, but many opt for turning on the television to see what’s going on.
But Joseph Ross, of Dayton, Ohio, didn’t quite have that experience. When he checked into his room at a Motel 6 in Sharonville, Ohio, to attend the Macy’s Music Festival, he laid on his bed and cut on the television to relax, but the exact opposite happened. Ross was outraged by what he saw on his television screen:
“I turned the TV on and when I laid back on the bed I just happened to see something on the screen and I was like, ‘aww that ain’t there, so then I focused my eyes and I couldn’t believe what was on there,’” Ross said.
What Ross saw was an electronic message across his screen that read “Hello Nigger!” When he complained to Motel 6′s corporate office they said it would be a 30-day process for him to get any results, so he took his complaints to the local NAACP.
“To my amazement I actually witnessed with my own eyes ‘Hello (racial slur) exclamation point,’” said Derrick Forward, President of the Dayton chapter of the NAACP.
Can you imagine making this type of complaint to the corporate office of any company and the company not offering an immediate solution for such an outrageous incident?

I could see if this was in “Blazing Saddles” cause that movie pushed the envelope but this is real life and is truly one of those things that make you go ‘hmmmm’ and then ‘WTF?’

How is this newsworthy? And why was it necessary to get the corporate office and the NAACP involved? This could have very easily been programmed by the previous guest. Just give him a free room and tell him to shut up. This is ridiculous.
