Here we go again with yet another senseless robbery that has been thwarted by someone that was just a little badder than the robbers. If these fools that keep trying to rob these stores would put that kind of effort into finding a job, maybe they would find that it’s not worth the jail time or the headache.
Eduardo Torres-Lopez, 22, and Jesse DosSantos, 24, thought the small store called the Continental Market in New Bedford, Mass., was an easy mark for a robbery. But they didn’t know that the store had an 80-year old secret weapon against thieves. The pint sized mother-in-law of the store’s owner, Manuel Nogueira is a force to be reckoned with. Otilia Martins, 80, and a portuguese immigrant, sprang to action when she realized her son-in-law’s store was being robbed, according to the Huffington Post.
Martins saw the young man behind the counter holding a gun on Nogueira and began launching mangoes at him. DosSantos hit her in the head with his pistol leaving a large gash, but she didn’t back down. The two were soon caught by police and are now facing charges of armed robbery, carrying a dangerous weapon, and assault and battery on a person over the age of 60.
The 80-year old told the Huffington Post:
“He’s lucky I didn’t have something stronger to hit him with.’”
Check her out!
