NBC’s Today show has long been the home of the nation’s favorite starting line-up: Al Roker, Matt Lauer, Katie Couric…oops! She abandoned ship for CBS Evening News. And they recycled her when the ratings dropped on a consistent basis and she headed over to ABC’s morning show Good Morning America. Now, NBC is prepared to do some recycling of their own.
It appears to be time for Ann Curry to give up her co-lead anchor spot on NBC’s Today show and she’s only one year into her three-year contract. According to TMZ, her replacement will be announced by the “coming week.” There’s been rumors that the network has blamed her for their low ratings and a lack of chemistry between her and Matt Lauer.
It has been reported that she’s been offered $10 million, but it’s not certain. The 15-year veteran with the show has a three-year contract that has to be honored. So whether they get rid of her or not, they have to pay her.
One week after the New York Times reported that NBC would be replacing Curry, a heartless, but unintentional media snafu occurred when the very next day the Ladies Home Journal printed excerpts of Curry saying she’d like to stay with the network 10 to 15 more years and in the face of all the criticism of the job she’s doing at the Today show, she said:
“Am I not good enough?”
Don’t worry, Ann! Oprah has a soft place for you to land over at OWN.
