What’s your favorite bookstore? Do you like to go there alone and study, work, or just read and be at peace with yourself? There is nothing unusual about that. But what if one day they came up with a new policy and told you to leave the store because you are a man …in their store alone?
Well Barnes & Nobles seems to have a rogue manager making up policies of his own out in Scottsdale, Arizona. He came across Dr. Omar Amin in the children’s section of the store as he was shopping alone for books for his grandchildren and all hell broke loose.
According to the local ABC affiliate ABC15, the manager told Amin that Barnes & Noble’s policy states that men are not permitted to be in the children’s section of the store alone and Dr. Amin would have to leave. Amin was irate! In another interview he said:
“I’m not a little punk,” said Amin. “I’m not going to take this. It’s unacceptable.”
Did you hear that Barnes & Nobles? Amin said, “I ain’t no punk, naaamin!” He demanded an apology from the store and he got one. Part of it read:
“…We should not have done so. It is not our policy to ask customers to leave any section of our stores without justification. We value Dr. Amin as a customer and look forward to welcoming him in any of our stores.”
