Police Kill Teenager and Blame Man that Called 911

Fake 911 call leads to the death of college student, Kendrec McDade, 19.

The world is finally seeing the travesty of all the crimes in America that are finally getting 15 minutes of national attention because of the Trayvon Martin case.  The inconsistencies between police reports and the facts are being brought to light in case after case after case.  The latest case out of Pasadena, Calif., resulted in the death of a teenage college student who was merely walking in the same area of a man that made a false 911 call.

The student, Kendrec McDade, 19, was a student at Citrus College and killed by police because Oscar Carrillo made a false claim that he had been robbed of his laptop at gunpoint.  Police searched the area for two armed men and came upon Kendrec McDade and another suspect.  McDade was shot and killed on the site because of this startling admission from Carrillo:

“In an interview Monday with detectives, Sanchez said Carrillo admitted that he made up the story about the gun to speed up the officers’ response. Detectives now believe McDade and the other person, a juvenile, were unarmed…”

According to the MSNBC report, the other suspect is a juvenile and has been “charged with two counts of commercial burglary, one count of grand theft and one count of failure to register as a gang member as a condition of his probation.” He is in police custody.

But now Carrillo faces charges as well for making the false claim that police say lead to the death of McDade.  Carrillo is being held on charges of “suspicion of involuntary manslaughter.”  Read more here on the case.

  1. The college student, Kendrec McDade age 19 was killed by police who just seen an innocent unarmed black kid and shot him. Why just see a stitch of color and shoot? No questioning, no investigation, no observation, no detective work, no intelligence, no brains. So what if the 911 caller added a lie-that does not give police the ok to run in the area and shoot the first black young male they see. In this case among many many others these negligent disgrace of police officers should be jailed and punished for the fatal discrimatory crime they’ve committed.

  2. As a black american born and raised in the city of Pasadena, California since 1969, I think this whole thing about racist cops is crazy. Pasadena has a very diverse cultural population and law enforcement supports this. This story is just a piggy back off of Trayvon Martin. It is a tragedy that resulted from two boys stealing from a car and a victim lying in order to get a faster response from the cops. We as black people have to stop rally only for perceived injustice, when we need to rally about keeping our children in school. As a juvenile probation officer I see many parents who do not supervise their children, but blame police when their child is caught stealing, robbing, or attacking members of the community. I feel bad for the family, but we have to stop our children from committing crimes that will rezult in only two things—jail or death.
