Six days ago, we reported on the shooting death of Trayvon Martin in Sanford, Florida. The young man was killed as he begged for help. There were plenty of neighbors around to see and hear the incident, but because it was dark, they couldn’t immediately make out the players. But, now that the 911 tapes have been released, the general public can piece this tragedy together.
On the scene, police immediately sided with George Zimmerman, 28, who has a blemish on his record for resisting arrest and now has some law enforcement experts thinking that he may have been intoxicated when he took Martin’s life. With the way he sounds on the 911 tapes, it’s evident that intoxication may be further down on the list of things wrong with this fool. One of the 911 tapes goes like this:
Zimmerman says, “He’s checking me out,” and then, “This guy looks like he’s on drugs, he’s definitely messed up.”
“These a**holes always get away,” he adds.
The dispatcher is heard trying to discourage Zimmerman, asking, “Are you following him?.. Okay, we don’t need you to do that.”
The tapes give all the information needed to arrest Zimmerman and throw him in the slammer for the rest of his days. On another tape, the entire incident can be heard in the background as a woman is clearly shaken by the incident unfolding in her own backyard. She is frantic and the sound of Martin yelling for help before a loud “pop” is heard curdles the blood. HEAR the audiotapes HERE.
In addition, check out this excerpt of an interview with Trayvon Martin’s mother, Sybrina Fulton, where a reporter has the audacity to ask if he ate “chicken.” The video will put what looks like a simple incident into perspective.
