One of the worst things that anyone can do is mistreat a child. Child Protective Services are supposed to see that does not happen. But once again, they have dropped the ball and one neighborhood in Texas is shocked and horrified by a house discovered on their block to be full with children, yet no one even knew one of them existed. But, CPS has known about the home for several years.
Houston’s KHOU reported the abuse case which occurred in Dayton, Texas, last Monday, where 11 children were found bound and hungry in a small 10×10 sized room. According to the Daily Mail:
“The 11 children found in the Texas home were a five-month-old boy, an eight-month-old boy, a one-year-old boy, a boy and girl, both two, a three-year-old girl, another boy and girl who were both four, a legally blind five-year-old girl, an eight-year-old boy, and an 11-year-old boy.”
The children’s room had no electricity and the windows were boarded shut. They resided in the home with 10 adults, including their grandmother who owned the house, and are all cousins. They are the children of seven siblings. But the bizarre part of the case is that NO ADULT has been charged with any crime, yet all of the children have been taken into the custody of Child Protective Services.
One man has come forward as the father of a two-year-old that is called “Ryan” in the report. He was completely unaware that the child was in harm because all he knew was that she was living with her mother in her grandmother’s home. He said he had only seen her a few times, but he’s on a mission to prove paternity and gain custody of the child.
This family is mentally ill, but when is the state going to start being held accountable for cases like this? The very children they’ve been sworn to protect are essentially being killed and mistreated right before their eyes.
