There is a scary map out there for every neighborhood in America. It has little red dots all over it and those dots represent the sex offenders in your area. But now, they may have to get a dot for churches if they find one more sex offender in the pulpit.
A Jacksonville, Florida minister, Darrell Gilyard, who was recently released from prison in December, confessed to committing sex crimes against two girls and was incarcerated in 2008. But his congregation is quite aware of the transgressions of their new pastor and are ready to fight for him.
The parishioners that came across one reporter outside their church, Christ Tabernacle, were quite perturbed with his presence and the questions about their new minister, according to the Grio. One of Gilyard’s loyal followers said:
“All these people over here are trying to do is worship, which is what you all ought to be doing.”
Gilyard’s followers are so adamant about him sitting at the helm of their church that they have a separate building for the children to attend church, so that he will not be in violation of his sex offender status. I’m about to go there…I’m sorry! I can’t help myself…here it comes….C’MON SON!!
Are we that lost and confused that we think it’s more important to hear this man speak than to properly protect the children; the very people he has already violated? The members of his congregation say, “Amen.”
What is going on? Maybe that’s why there are so many children under attack. It seems that children are being hunted and some keep choosing to look the other way. I understand forgiveness and that everyone has sinned and everyone deserves a second chance and on and on and on in that vein, but the minister? He doesn’t get bust down to a deacon, usher, nothin’? But one good thing is that the members of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church were no fools. He preached his last sermon there in 2008, when he admitted his crimes.
Check out the report below. I think Gilyard is getting ready to serve Kool-Aid.
