One Million Moms demand JCPenney get rid of Ellen Degeneres as their new spokeswoman.
The gay community in California just won a major victory as they declared same sex marriage legal in the state yesterday. The ruling is on hold, but it’s still a step in the right direction for the gay community’s struggle. Now some organization wants JCPenney to give up their spokesperson because she’s gay.
Well, I don’t know if that’s going to work out with Ellen Degeneres. She is the new spokeswoman for JCPenney and she is not going to be voted off by some campaign. One Million Women are trying to get the nation to get her removed simply because she’s openly gay. According to Yahoo! News One Million Moms wrote on their website:
“Funny that JC Penney thinks hiring an open homosexual spokesperson will help their business when most of their customers are traditional families… DeGeneres is not a true representation of the type of families that shop at their store. The majority of JC Penney shoppers will be offended and choose to no longer shop there.”
One Million Moms is asking people to call JC Penney to complain. Do you feel like complaining right now? I think One Million Moms better heed GLAAD’S advice and leave Ellen’s followers alone. The country loves Ellen. She’s a reflection of the sign of the times. America is full with all kinds of people, no matter what race, creed, religion, or sexuality. Get over it!
