Spike Lee’s Malcolm X Reaches 20th Anniversary with New Release (Video)

The time has flown since Malcolm X hit the big screen and audiences of every ethnicity sat in complete amazement at Denzel Washington’s portrayal of the Civil Rights era icon.  He set the bar high for covering the life of another.  His stirring performance along with the film ending with a cameo of hero and liberator of Africans throughout the diaspora, Nelson Mandela.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the classic film and just in time for Black History month, the film was re-released on Blu-ray and DVD last week, according to BET.com.  There will be bonus footage that was edited from the original film as well as the behind-the-scenes footage with Spike Lee and others from his team that helped create one of the biggest movies of our time.

Other bonuses included are:

“Other Blue-ray features include a 40-page digi-book that details the film from scene to scene, nine deleted scenes and actor bios. Viewers also get the 1972 documentary Malcolm X on DVD, written by Arnold Perland based on The Autobiography of Malcolm X as told to Alex Haley.”
