The road to the Super Bowl came through the Baltimore Ravens, New England Patriots, New York Giants and the San Francisco 49ers. But, two teams had to stay behind. Both, who fans blame one person on each of the teams for causing the 49ers and the Ravens to fall short of the glory of the Super Bowl.
San Francisco’s wide receiver Kyle Williams was blamed for fumbling a punt return in overtime that could have possibly set them up for a win against the Giants. Ravens’ kicker Billy Cundiff was blamed for missing the field goal with 11 seconds on the clock that would’ve tied the game and sent them into overtime against the Patriots.
But Ravens’ linebacker Ray Lewis, stepped up and put the game into perspective. Lewis is arguably the best linebacker to ever play the game and he is the last member of the original team that brought Baltimore back into the NFL in 1996. He brings an energy of sportsmanship and professionalism to the game like no other.
Lewis’ words on their loss could be used by the 49ers as well. The most poignant part of his remarks were:
“One play didn’t win or lose this game…and one man has never lost a game…we win as a team, we lose as a team!”
Go Ray Lewis! Now THAT’S good sportsmanship! Check him out. He’s a real class act. Better luck next year Ravens!
