There has to be a dumb, dumber, and downright ig’nant barometer for those who are held accountable for acting like a jackass at others’ expense. A birthday bash in Martin Luther King’s honor went drastically awry with a flyer meant to promote the party. The graphic artist depicted the civil rights icon with strippers and wads of cash to keep with the theme. Refer to the barometer mentioned previously and you choose where he registers.
According to NBC Miami, The Office strip club in Miami was planning the “I Have A Dream Bash” with a flyer constructed by graphic designer Jeffrey Darnell Paul who claims that he was not aware that the depiction of MLK was disrespectful:
“I wasn’t trying to disrespect anybody…it wasn’t on my mind that it would escalate to something like this,” Paul told NBC Miami Monday. “It was just supposed to be a promotional thing, it wasn’t about disgracing Martin Luther King, it wasn’t about that.”
It’s obvious that he had nothing on his mind, but to say that he didn’t realize this was disrespectful or that was not his intention should land him a seat at the head of the short yellow bus. Because of his actions, the club did not open on MLK’s birthday Sunday with any sort of celebration. The whole thing was called off. But the question is how was it possible for the flyer to be circulated online when the strip club disapproved of it?
Meet Paul also known as, as Fred Sanford would say “You Big Dummy!”
