Online ‘Inmate’ Dating Has Found It’s Place in General Population

The next time I hear someone talking about they can’t find love, I will immediately direct them to the rapidly growing online community where anyone can find love.  There are plenty of prison inmates out there that have committed heinous crimes, yet they’re hooking up with the loves of their lives.

According to the Grio, more and more websites specifically designed for prison inmate dating are popping up at an alarming rate.  No matter how severe the crime, there are plenty of women out there ready to “rehabilitate” their man.  Some of the sites out there are and  Both of which charge a friend to update the inmate’s page.  Sound familiar?  The sites also ask  for the inmate vitals and get participating inmates to send info about themselves via forms sent out by the site. works more as a pen pal for those interested in the mental stimulation they get from corresponding with someone they will never see in person.  But others like the thought of being able to obtain something that needs to be fixed.  One journalist for Britain’s The Guardian, writer Julie Bindel said:

“I once interviewed a woman who was waiting for a man to be released from a life sentence she had met via the prison pen pal service. He had killed two women in domestic violence situations. My interviewee was desperate to marry him, and, although she knew of his crimes, was convinced she could change him.”

Must we say more?  From the great poet himself, Mr. Stevie Wonder, “Love’s in need of love today.  Send yours in right  away.”  Read the full report here.
