Children Use Cell Phones to Report Drunk Bus Driver While on Board

Carole Crockett, 46, caught driving middle school children while drunk in Westampton, New Jersey, Wednesday, November 9, 2011.

We’re always hearing stories about school bus drivers beating up the kids on their bus, bringing children home extremely late, or some other lapse in judgement.  Well, this story is no different, except the kids were able to protect themselves from a disastrous situation this time.

According to the New York Daily News, a New Jersey middle school bus driver, Carole Crockett, 46, took a few sips before getting on the bus to make her rounds Wednesday and thought no one would be the wiser.  Well, once she starting dozing off and swerving all over the road, the children on board became suspicious.

They took to their cell phones alerting the school that the woman was falling asleep behind the wheel, not knowing that she was drunk.  Her blood alcohol level was more than three times the legal limit at .025.  She’s already made bail and is scheduled for court next week.

Can you imagine how bad this could’ve been?  She had a lot of children and was picking up more when they stopped her.  Parents can finally see the worth in paying their child’s cell phone bill every month.  Hats off to the middle schoolers that called this chick in!
