Have you ever snacked on fruit, opened a bag of chips, or maybe even drank a bottle of water on a hot day before paying for any of these items? We think to ourselves that we’ll pay at the cash register. What’s the harm in that? Obviously, jail time and your kids being taken into protective custody.
According to Reuters, a couple were in the Safeway supermarket in Makiki in the area of Honolulu, Hawaii, when they were hustled to the ground over a chicken salad sandwich. The store’s security wasn’t having it, even after they produced money to pay. The woman, Nicole Leczcyzynski, was 30-weeks pregnant and was hungry because she had walked a long way to the store. They had even patronized the store with $50 in groceries. They just forgot to add the sandwich.
Their daughter was taken by Child Protective Services (CPS). Later, Safeway felt they may have overreacted. Ya think?! Read the full story here.
