Since our report on Rayon McIntosh, we’re still upset with his immediate incarceration at Riker’s Island after defending himself from two young ladies in a dispute at a Greenwich Village McDonald’s. McIntosh had already done 11 years and was trying to be on the straight and narrow when two women attacked him and caused him to retaliate.
The women, Denise Darbeau and Rachel Edwards, both 24, also have charges. But, it has also been reported that Darbeau has more severe injuries. Initially, we reported Darbeau suffered a broken arm and fractured skull. According to Sandra Rose, Darbeau’s mother said that her daughter would have permanent brain damage from her injuries.
But, it’s hard to have sympathy for her when you hear McIntosh’s side of the story. He gave an exclusive interview to New York Daily News from Riker’s Island saying:
“I was not looking for trouble,” said McIntosh, 31, wearing a crisp gray jail outfit. “The trouble found me. People are portraying me as a vicious attacker.
“I was just working at my job when I was attacked for no reason. I’m not a heartless person.”
“She said, ‘Oh, you think my s–t is fake?’ … She started saying, ‘Suck my d–k.’ She called my mother a whore.”
“I was being attacked by aggressive people I didn’t know,” said McIntosh. “I was just defending myself. They came in and went crazy on me.”
