The New York Police Department never ceases to amaze anyone. Just when you think they are the worst police department ever, they go and have a huge corruption case and secure their spot at the #1 spot of the worst police departments.
According to the NY Daily News, during a bench trial for eight undercover narcotic officers, one of them Jason Arbeeny, a crack addict, Melanie Perez, testified that Arbeeny brought her to his home and gave her crack if in return she would perform sex acts.
The case has rocked Brooklyn South narcotics unit and another officer by the name of Sean Johnston was also a part of the scandal and Perez was introduced to him by Arbeeny. The officers that were involved were accused of “flaking”–planting drugs on innocent people–then carrying them in to fit arrest quotas and obtain overtime.
Perez put the icing on the cake of the numerous charges against the officers and was a witness in court against them. Read the full story here.
