Jokey Joke: Gawker Takes on the Nation’s ‘Stupidest’ Holidays

We all have to admit that there are a lot of celebrations on the calendar that we get to take off from work, yet we don’t understand.  Nonetheless, we are glad to have the day off. We just celebrated Columbus Day on Monday, but it’s a half-ass holiday.  The government knows everyone isn’t a fan of Columbus, so they take it upon themselves to only close their offices.  So everyone is mostly inconvenienced by these types of holidays.

There has to be more consistency.  Either everyone gets to be off or no one gets to be off…especially the U.S. government. agrees and they have taken the time to break down all of the holidays that we know are insignificant or as they put it, “the stupidest.”

Did you know about Arbor Day, Confederate Memorial Day, Talk Like a Pirate Day, or Casimir Pulaski Day?  Well, Gawker breaks them down for you here.  But, you might not want to use their definition as the true explanation of the holiday.  Have fun!
