‘Infomercial King’ found Dead in Prison Cell, Possible Suicide

Don Lapre, 47, found dead in federal prison cell Sunday, October 2, 2011.

The ponzi scheme has been the big crime of the last few years.  And this is not some little piddly thousands of dollars scheme, these guys rob the bank!  Hundreds of millions of dollars have been stolen and has ruined a lot of families.  One of the culprits behind a popular ponzi scheme was found dead in his jail cell on Sunday.

According to the Daily Mail, Don Lapre, 47, appeared to have killed himself in his jail cell as he awaited his trial that would’ve begun today.  According to U.S. Marshalls, it seems the self-proclaimed “King of Infomercials” had a stab wound to the groin and when he was found was in a large amount of blood.

Lapre was in a federal prison in Florence, Az.  He was known for promoting and selling “essentially worthless Internet based businesses”, and the Greatest Vitamin in the World.  His company was shut down in 2007 after hundreds of complaints were filed against him.  He made millions up until that time.

I’m so happy I’m not an easy sell for those TV offers.  There may be a line to his coffin, but it might be for those who want to kick it.  What a way to leave the world.  Read more here.  God bless his children.
