Remember when we told you about the MLK site searches being redirected to a white supremacist site with search engine optimization (SEO) tricks? Well, we got wind of a story from 2009, that showed that droves of people used the search terms ”white people stole my car” on Google, just so they can have the pleasure of seeing Google ask , “Did you mean, ‘black people stole my car?’ What’s up with that Google?!
How is it possible that could be the “go to” question when someone white is under suspicion? What could Google possibly come up with as their excuse for this redirection? Well, the site that printed the story thinks that it’s possible “that someone misspelled “black people stole my car,” got the correction shown, and altered the search text as a prank.”
Not buying it! Read more here. And to keep them on their best behavior, do the search from time to time just to make sure it isn’t happening anymore.
