There is something fishy about the story going down in South San Francisco. Anytime someone works for a company for nearly 20 years, most would think that they were good for a bag of chips, right? A soda, Band-Aid, Tic-Tacs, somethin’! Why would someone be fired for eating a bag of chips on the job?
The woman, Josefina Hernandez, who is diabetic, was fired from Walgreens for opening a bag of potato chips when she felt her sugar going low from hypoglycemia. She paid for the bag of chips later, but was still terminated from her employer of nearly two decades.
Now the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) is stepping in to sue the company for violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Check out the story here.
