‘Spartacus’ Star Dies

Spartacus star, Andy Whitfield, 39, died from cancer, Sunday, September 11, 2011.

A lot of us are fans of the hit show “Spartacus: Blood and Sand”.  It is similar to the action-packed, cinematography wonder of the ground-breaking film “300”.  The star of the Showtime series, while appearing strong on the show, was quite ill behind the scenes in his private life.

Andy Whitfield died from Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma on Sunday in Sydney, Australia, where he lived.  He was only 39 years old.  According to E! News, he had been battling the debilitating disease for over a year.

The show will continue to air though and they have already replaced Whitfield with  newcomer, Liam McIntyre.  They bear a striking resemblance to one another, but in the case that you’re going to replace the star of a show, it would be a director’s dream to find someone that looks similar to the former star.

Check out the story here and meet Liam McIntyre. RIP Andy Whitfield.
