Black GOP Member Rips DNC Chairwoman with E-mail

Allen West (R-Fl.)

Congress seems to be on edge lately with all that is at stake if the budget isn’t worked out and the payment made before the country defaults on its massive loan.  But, in the middle of such an important measure, congressmen still find time to squabble amongst themselves and have a little back and forth that looks like it could turn into gunplay.

Allen West is a freshmen republican congressman from Florida who is a military man we reported on last November when he came into Congress and wanted to make the unprecedented move to join the Congressional Black Caucus without their blessings.  From all that we know about the arrogant, tea party supported congressman, his recent rant in an e-mail he sent to DNC chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, has proved him to be a misogynist fool as well.

According to the Huffington Post, the e-mail was sent to her because he says that after he spoke on the House floor regarding medicare cuts, she attacked him personally.  West’s e-mail, that was sent to other congressmen as well as Wasserman Schultz said:

“Look, Debbie, I understand that after I departed the House floor you directed your floor speech comments directly towards me. Let me make myself perfectly clear, you want a personal fight, I am happy to oblige. You are the most vile, unprofessional and despicable member of the US House of Representatives. If you have something to say to me, stop being a coward and say it to my face, otherwise, shut the heck up.”

And mind you, the subject line of his e-mail read, “Unprofessional and Inappropriate Sophomoric Behavior from Wasserman Schultz.”  This guy has problems.  It’s clear that he doesn’t respect women.  His letter’s acerbic tone is threatening and if she has a brother, he should be kicking his ass in the alley it sounds like he wants to meet her in.

Read more here.  Wasserman Schultz is formally asking for an apology.

  1. How is he disrespecting women specifically? Sounds to me like he just flew off the handle to another member of Congress (who happens to be a woman). Being treated equally also means being able to take the good with the bad, especially since there didn’t seem to be anything that directly referred to her gender. I disagree with his politics, but if he said the same thing to a male congressman, there would be no mention of disrespect.

  2. Come on. How do you determine that this guy has problems and doesn’t respect women from his email? If this is all he said it seem pretty straight forward. Of course, he sounds a bit bothered but not out of control angry or anything. I’m sure the congresswoman has heard worse and would hope that she is not too bothered by this email. I wonder what she had to say about him. There are some real sexists, racists, thiefs and nuts in the US Congress, let’s not spend too much time on trivial incidents like this.

  3. Your views are skewed so far left that its almost comedy. Another ridiculous commentary. Yawn.
