NBA Lockout Has Begun

NBA Commissioner David Stern contends that this was just not a profitable enough season for owners.

Talk about bad timing. We are just getting off an NFL lockout and now the NBA decides they’re going to have a temper tantrum and lockout players too?  WTFraggle nackle bullcrap is that?! It seems that fans cannot pay into the NBA enough.  After you pay $50 for a ticket into the game (and that’s per person, so if you have kids your paycheck is going to suffer), then buy a $10 hot dog, a drink is going to cost another $10 (per person), another $100 in souvenirs for the kids, you’re broke and still trying to enjoy the game and the money spent would never lead you to believe that the NBA is strapped for cash!

And that is probably not the case, but owners are crying foul and after a 3-hour negotiation, they still decided to lockout.  According to the Huffington Post, after most parents and fans expensive night of basketball, they still are not making enough profit. NBA Commissioner David Stern said, “We had a great year in terms of the appreciation of our fans for our game. It just wasn’t a profitable one for the owners, and it wasn’t one that many of the smaller market teams particularly enjoyed or felt included in.”

Can you believe that or do you think they’re using the lockout to put the squeeze on fans again?  After paying taxes, bills, mortgages or rent, doctor bills, buying your basic necessities entertainment is going to become an unattainable experience if this means that your ticket prices will rise because they, as Billy Idol once said, want more, more, more…more mor morrrrre!
