One of the most revolutionary artists of our time, Mr. Gil Scott-Heron, passed away last week and we are already feeling the loss.  The man, commonly referred to as the Godfather of Hip Hop, has all types of artists, entertainers, social activists, you name it, theycoming out to share their feeling of loss for this griot of truth.

Conscious hip-hop artist Lupe Fiasco, appears to be following in his footsteps with his rendition of his most popular piece “The Revolution will not be Televised.”  The title for Fiasco’s cover is “The Television will not be Revolutionized” and was posted on his blog yesterday.  The lyrics are piercing as those from Scott-Heron.  Here’s a glimpse here:

Idiot boxes of the world unite! To fight off the effects of intelligence, replace smart quotes with fart jokes, substitute sense with scenes from “Martin,” let the baby’s bathe in that glow and learn all manner of things they don’t really need to know!
