President Obama is over in the UK making his rounds with the Queen, Prince and Princess, William and Kate, and just like U.S. military labeled Osama with a code name, the UK has given one to Obama. Interesting huh? And the name is not attractive. In fact, in Punjabi, it’s meant to be a bit offensive.
According to the UK’s Daily Mail, the code name is “Chalaque”. In Punjabi, that means he’s too smart for his own good or as your grandmother would say he’s too big for his britches. Now the code name controversy with Osama was over our security teams referring to him as “Geronimo”. Native Americans took offense and rightly so. He was a great man for the Native American people and they felt disgraced and disrespected by the use of it.
Now, in turn, what does President Obama think of what seems to be a slight on him? Britain’s famous law enforcement, Scotland Yard, said the same thing the U.S. said, there isn’t any meaning behind code names because they are computer generated. But a very good question has been raised. Why couldn’t they simply switch the name to something less provocative?
In the ‘hood, “chalaque” means something totally different. We always said it to mean that someone would get their ass chalaqued! Beat to a shine! Stomped out! Am I alone? Haven’t you heard the word before? Check out the rest of their report here.
