Fox News has done it again! They have spoke out of turn and, for the first time, have retracted their statements…quickly! They posted a poorly timed story to subtly suggest that a student’s suicide had something to do with President Obama’s speech on the campus that day.
After an outrage over Fox News’ decision to post the story on a George Washington University student’s suicide and link it to President Obama speaking at the school yesterday, the site took the story down. But luckily, Mediaite took the time to reprint the story in pieces to show Fox’s intricately insensitive wording of the unfortunate incident. And the story ended up getting Fox the exact commentary they were looking for from one commenter:
““Gee, if NObama was at my school, I’d kill myself too. LOLZ”?”
This may have also contributed to the anti-news site’s decision to remove the story. One excerpt Mediaite printed on their site said:
“GWU officials tell Fox that police were notified about the incident around 2pm, which happens to be at the same time that President Obama was speaking. A source tells Fox that the incident may have occurred earlier, noting that police went knocking on the student’s door at 1:30pm. As of this writing, Fox has not been able to obtain reaction from the White House.”
Not only is this exhibit their complete insensitivity to the victim, but for Fox, it kills 2 birds with one stone by also disrespecting the President.
