Americans have been worrying about all the possible ways we would be affected by the horrible disaster in Japan and now it is here. All of the people that have been displaced over there had jobs and families too. They had jobs that supported us and kept us going as well. There was a major reciprocation between Asia’s Toyota and North American Toyota. They were making the parts we use to put the cars together over here.
Now that so many people have been displaced by the fury of the waters that came over Japan, there is no one to report to work and get the parts made, so on the North American side of Toyota production will also come to a halt. What does that mean? It means 25,000 workers will be hitting the unemployment line. There is no way of knowing when the layoffs will end. Workers have already been working on borrowed time.
