Jennifer Hudson Gets Cut from NCAA’s ‘Shining Moment’ (Video)

Are You Serious?, Music, What's Up, sports

Jennifer Hudson is looking and sounding great right now.  She seems to be at the top of her game with the #2 album in the country, yet CBS seems to has an opposing opinion.  The network decided they would remove her from the coveted NCAA post-season collage that is shown the first Monday in April.  For some reason, they feel that her rendition of ”One Shining Moment” fell short.  That it didn’t capture the moments the way previous versions have done.

The previous version for the last decade was Luther Vandross.  Before Vandross the sound of One Shining Moment was Teddy Pendergrass.  So for the last 20 years, they ‘ve been the voice for the finale of the season.  The men, have all of a sudden, gotten all soft, mushy and nostalgic and Jennifer didn’t cut the mustard for them.  You check out both versions and tell us what you think.  Jennifer rocks the song just as good!

I’m not an expert, but it sounds good to me…not sure what CBS’ problem is here, but they need to get over it whatever it is.

I’m sorry, but I agree with CBS. Even though I think Jennifer does a good job, it’s not worth changing Luther’s version. They shouldn’t change just for the sake of change, but change because it’s an upgrade.
#2 This version also sounds a bit too commercial for me. And yes, it does have a more upbeat feel to it.
Nonetheless… Luther’s sappy version still does it for me.

I LOVE Luther’s version! If it ain’t broke don’t fix it!

  5. Bob Says:

    2 problems:
    1) CBS should have shown game footage instead of Jennifer Hudson’s studio footage. In other words the video should be all about the game and not the performer

    2) Jennifer’s singing toward the end was more screaming than singing the lyrics – JMO.

Super V.I.P Produced Ripleys cd and she sounds good. The remix is on itunes for U Can Make It. Good Producer and Production. Where did SVIP come from?
Super V.i.P hooked Ripley Up , Hope she is not and ingreatful singer. She sounds good on Miss You. Stay with the ones that did what other would not. Do not blow it Fairchild. Most people do not get your opportunity at your age. Keep making good music.
