No one really talks about the mafia much anymore. The last time any really big story went down in the news regarding mafia was when John Gotti was finally brought down (and died in prison) and then the news of his daughter getting her own reality show. This bust and the names involved brings back memories. They came after the families as though Elliot Ness was leading the charge all over again.
Some of the familymembers’ names you might remember that were arrested are: Genovese, Gambino, DeCavalcante, Colombo, Bonanno and Lucchese. The Gambino and Lucchese families have been up to no good so long Elliot Ness probably really did nab some of them. The ages of some of these guys are late 70′s and early 80′s.
These guys have extorted, murdered, racketeered, just plain run amok for over 70 years. Their presence is so deeply engrained in American history, they are a part of a romanticized idea of crime that America hnas long helped them celebrate. Take a look at the story as it is unfolding new.
