The story that has been told in the media about a baby girl that was abducted in 1987 from Harlem Hospital is the stuff of miracles. Nothing less. The infant that was stolen is now a grown woman with a child of her own. And since she’s been gone since she was a mere 19 days old, there’s no way for her to know how many homes she’s lived in or if the people who took her were the only family to have her.
Carlina White, 23, was raised to believe her name was Nejdra Nance, but she never felt like her family was truly her family, so she started to hunt. The research turned up surprising results when she found baby pictures that looked identical to her own on a missing children’s website. She was able to get in touch with her birth mother, Joy White, through the organization.
She was merely 19 days old, and her mother 16 years old, when her mother took her to Harlem Hospital because she was running a fever. Somehow the person who abducted her got a window of opportunity to snatch her and the rest is her-story. The families being able to unite after decades apart was nothing less than God’s work.
