This year, our First Lady’s birthday fell on the holiday used to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday. What a great compliment to her birthday. Although, with it being a federal holiday and SHE IS the federal government it’s a great thing having a husband with some pull to get your birthday recognized as well.
Well, Michelle Obama didn’t go all out for her 47th birthday (no matter who her husband is). According to CNN, she had a community service project with the President and their daughters to celebrate MLK Day. When they attended Sunday service at the Metropolitan African Methodist Episcopal Church, the congregation sang happy birthday to her during the service.
She also got the Stevie Wonder version of Happy Birthday at the community service event at Stuart Hobson Middle School, from President Obama and the volunteers. As part of the school’s mentoring project, they all got together and painted fruit on the walls to urge healthy eating; the first lady’s signature issue and crusade.
The President turns 50, August 4. Read more about Mrs. Obama’s birthday here.
