We haven’t heard much from Twista lately, but he dropped a brand new album in early November called “The Perfect Storm.” Obviously, he’s making up for lost time because not only is he offering new music, but he’s also dropping a DVD called “Mr. Immortality: The Life and Times of Twista”. Like his fellow Chicagoan, Oprah Winfrey, who launches her OWN network January 1, 2011, he’ll be taking a page out of her playbook with a similar date January 11, 2011. That’s one way to go #1.
On Monday, the Vladar Company along with EMI’s Label Services division announced the DVD release which chronicles the life of the Chicago rapper. Unfortunately, the film splits time between Twista and his humble roots in the streets of Chicago where murder rates have been climbing and making it into one of the most dangerous cities in the US. There will be never before seen footage of Twista’s recording sessions and concert footage.
There will be appearances by Ne-Yo, Jeremih, The Dream, Scott Storch, Big Boi of Outkast and even baller, Ron Artest from the Lakers and US Congressman Danny Davis. The film will be released through EMI and is directed and produced by Vlad Yudin who recently directed a Hip Hop biopic ‘Big Pun: The Legacy’ and ‘Last Day of Summer’ (starring Twilight’s Nikki Reed) released in October 2010.
“We explore the world of Twista and also focus heavily on the recent violence that’s going on in Chicago,” said director Vlad Yudin. “It will be a truly exciting and insightful film.”
“I’m really looking forward to the documentary coming out because it’s a project we’ve been workin’ on for a little bit and I know it shows a little bit of me that a lot of people haven’t seen before,” said Twista.
An official site www.Twista-movie.com is now launched, where the trailer is available. XXL Magazine is an official media partner of the film. Check out the trailer:
