Hit and Run Driver Killed Five Gets 50 Years

Aimee and Sheila Michael stand for sentencing for hit and run accident that killed five.

Last year on Easter, two families in the Atlanta area were destroyed by a hit and run driver.  Somehow, the driver forced a Mercedes into oncoming traffic and it collided head on with a Volkswagen Beetle. Everyone in the Mercedes was killed and a child killed in the other car.  But, according to the judge, the most horrific part of the incident was the cowardly move on behalf of the driver to flee the scene.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Judge Kimberly M. Esmond Adams threw the bookcase at her. The driver, Aimee Michael, 24, was sentenced to 50 years.  She will serve 36 years in prison and the rest on probation.  And for good measure, she “banned” her from ever obtaining a Georgia driver’s license again. The other culprit in the crime against the two families is Michael’s mother, Sheila Michael.  She discouraged her daughter from turning herself in and helped her cover up the accident. But those good ol’ nosey neighbors gave authorities tips on the car in the Michael’s driveway that led to her arrest.

Tracie Johnson, 44, was driving the Volkswagen Beetle and lost her six-year old daughter Morgan Johnson. Johnson was the lone survivor of the accident, but was very close to losing her own life. She suffered multiple injuries: broken legs, a broken hip and collarbone and damage to her spleen and liver.  Her husband and son were in a car ahead of her and not involved in the accident.

Read here for further details into this tragedy. You will be amazed by the statements made by Judge Adams.

  1. I do believe all of the ideas you have presented in your post. They are really convincing and can certainly work. Still, the posts are very quick for beginners. Could you please prolong them a bit from subsequent time? Thanks for the post.
