There are a batch of teenage football players out there that need to be applauded for what could be a dream come true play they made happen for a teammate. It even appears that they got the other team to go along with their play. The team was losing 35 – 0 and there were only 10 seconds left in the game when the defense opened up a path for this special player.
Ike Ditzenberger, 17, has practiced hard with the Snohomish (Wash.) High School teammates to be a good player. He, like anyone else on the team, probably dreams of a college football career, but with having Down Syndrome it’s not likely that his dream will come true. Check out the only points the team made during the game Friday against Lake Stevens with Ditzenberger’s 51 yard touchdown that’s been called the “Ike Special.”
