If you are not familiar with the case against Mumia Abu-Jamal it’s time you were caught up to speed. This political activist/journalist is serving the most controversial prison stint of any inmate in prison today. He’s been behind bars for nearly 30 years for the shooting death of Philadelphia police officer, David Faulkner. There is a lot of discrepancies over what may have occurred the night of the shooting. So many, that they have held up his death sentence all these years. There have been numerous appeals, but it appears that the trial of the century is coming to a close and now everyone is getting a bird’s eye view into the life and trial of Mumia Abu Jamal…with a movie.
The reporter/journalist was a Black Panther and had been quite vocal in the defense of Philadelphia’s MOVE organizationthat we reported on in March….motive one for the extreme controversy over this case. Jamal is an exposer and his particular target had been the corruption that has been spewing over from the Philadelphia police department for many, many years. Now there is a movie from Big Noise Films, “Justice On Trial: The Case of Mumia Abu Jamal,” that will give you a chance to decide for yourself. His life, literally, hangs in the balance.
