According to archaeology students at Temple, they have unearthed a major African American historic site in Westampton Township outside Mount Holly in New Jersey. The students and volunteers have found an entire village buried near Rancocas Creek. The excavation must have been massive to find so much in this area including unmarked graves.
The area had 13 graves of African American soldiers from the Civil War that are marked with headstones, but the excavators from the school believe there are nearly 80 that are unmarked. According to New Jersey online, there were also at least 18 houses, a church, and the normal components of a town.
