This has to be one of the most unbelievable stories we’ve seen. This young woman, Lizzie Velasquez, 21, must constantly eat in order to stay alive because she has a disorder called Neonatal Progeroid. According to CBS, she is believed to be only one of three people in the world that have the disorder that prevents the body from gaining weight no matter what you eat. Now you might yell, “Give me her problem NOW!” But being able to eat whatever she wants without gaining weight is a big problem.
Velasquez has to eat and eat and eat because her body eats up the food almost faster than she can get it in her body. She only weighs 56 pounds, but eats between 5-6,000 calories per day. And the even more unbelievable aspect of the disorder is that she will have to eat more as she grows because the disorder accelerates as she gets older. So, essentially she’ll have to keep something in her hand to eat, but her body may not be able to hold the amount of food it takes to keep her going. The human stomach can only hold so much food.
