Lion Burgers Sold at World Cup

Now we’ve heard it all!  The World Cup games had a lot going on and the energy was so high, people were trying anything.  Wearing too high mini-skirts, blowing horns, and now lion burgers.  All of them were banned from the events, but animal activisits took it a step further…where did it come from?

According to the distributor, Cameron Selogie, he got the idea at a Wine Pairing dinner where they serve exotic meats such as wild boar.  Someone told him about the availability of lion meat and the rest was history.  Believe it or not, according to the Huffington Post, the USDA’s spokesman John Brownlee stated that there’s “no prohibition against it.”  But animal activists don’t care, they want blood.

At the end of the investigation, Selogie was guilty of buying illegal meats from a guy who claimed he was getting the meat from a “free range farm in Illinois.”  But the investigation results from CNN found a back alley salesman, Richard Czimer, who sells everything: lions and tigers and ….well not bears, but everything else.  And it turns out Czimer isn’t a free-range farm. It’s a butcher shop located just outside of Chicago in Homer and in 2003, he was imprisoned for six months for “selling meat from federally protected tigers and leopards.”
